Gameboy emulator on the Oculus Rift: Gameception

One of the more interesting aspects of the Oculus gap is that it allows you to visit a virtual reality where you can do things you could do in your everyday life--such as on a couch and playing a game, as we have seen before.

Or, thanks to the work of software engineer Jonathan Joan, AKA Takohi, indulge in a dose of nostalgia with an emulator for the original Game Boy.

"Here we are passionate of the Nintendo Game Boy, which during our youth was a great console with so many great games (Super Mario Land, Pokemon, Link ... the Awakening), so many memories ..." Russian wrote on Bitbucket. "We always wanted to know how does an emulator work and how to do it, so one day we just wondered why not making a Game Boy emulator work with unit?"

His project, called UnityGB, is not specifically made for the Oculus Rift (you can play a unit web demo here), but since the device unit supports, the game can be played on the headset, as demonstrated by Shane O'Brien, a developer who is working on the project with Russian, in the video below.

"UnityGB is very light, also a Game Boy rom: for just a few more kilobytes, you can include in your project several Game Boy games so you add hours of fun to your original game with no effort," Russian wrote. "Suppose, for example, a GTA-like where the player can move on to the game center to play Game Boy Game on a video arcade machine. The player would play a game in a game (gameception). "

So that everyone can contribute to the project, has Russian UnityGB released as Open Source. You can grab it by the Russian UnityGB page on Bitbucket.
